Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody 23-year-old Samuel Bictor, a G4S security guard for allegedly murdering a fellow guard at Kiboko Town Hotel located in old town near Lilongwe Post Office.
Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector Kingsley Dandaula told Malawi News Agency (Mana) Wednesday that the incident occurred on May 26 2015 and that the suspect was on the run until Wednesday last week when police arrested him.
Dandaula said the deceased’s body was found by some customers who were going for jogging in the early hours of May 27 at the hotel compound who then reported the incident to the owners and Lilongwe police.
He identified the deceased as Ramsey Perekamoyo (43) from Kandapasalu village, in the area of Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu district.
“The suspect is believed to have once worked for the security company in Lilongwe and left the company for Blantyre after he was involved in another incidence. While in Blantyre he managed to get back to his job with the security company until his arrest,” said Dandaula.
Dandaula said the suspect was with his deceased’s friend only known as Limbani, a known criminal who was killed at Chinsapo in Lilongwe by mob justice during the Kiboko Town Hotel attack.
The publicist further revealed that the two went away with Pelekamoyo’s three mobile phones which he said aided the Police in tracing the assailants.
Dandaula said the suspect who hails from Kapalalika village in the area of Traditional Authority Somba in Blantyre is expected to answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
Kiboko Town Hotel is usually patronized by foreign customers especially tourists from Europe, America and other countries around the world.Mana
