A-40 year old Child trafficker has been sentenced to two years Imprisonment with hard Labour for allegedly trafficking 21 Children from Mozambique to work in Tobacco farms in Mangochi.

Mateyu Sali Kuchepa was arrested on July 29, 2015 at Wenela Bus Deport in the commercial capital in Blantyre and was charged with nine counts.

Delivering his sentence, Blantyre Magistrate Court Senior resident Viva Nyimba said he had a tough time to come up with judgment as the constitution of the republic of Malawi does not have clear sentence on Child trafficker.

Kuchepa will serve the sentence concurrently because the offences were committed as part of the same transaction.

However, lawyer representing Kuchepa, Yasini Domasi of YD Attorney, has said the defence will make an appeal against the sentencing.
