E’dina Hines, the step-granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman, was tragically stabbed to death in New York yesterday.
Police were called out to the incident in Washington Heights at around 3am. Initial reports suggest that it was her boyfriend who killed her.
Speaking out about the tragic incident, Freeman said: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
The New York Police Department say that E’Dina had been stabbed multiple times in her upper body when they found her lying in the street. The 33-year-old was rushed to Harlem Hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after. Authorities didn’t say what led to the stabbing.
Officials have not released his name, but Hines’ boyfriend has now been taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
Our thoughts go out to the Hines’ family, and Morgan Freeman, at this tough time.
