Avoiding pregnancy is a tricky subject that many people aren’t informed about. Sometimes couples try to avoid pregnancy when they feel they don’t need more kids at that point in time, and some relationship partners wouldn’t want pregnancy to come at that point too. But many pay little attention to information regarding pregnancy avoidance.
It should also be known that the highly popular withdrawal method is quite ineffective; it’s been estimated to have a 22% failure rate.
There are quite some ways to prevent pregnancy, however, the total and absolute way is abstinence.
Below are ways pregnancy can be avoided.
1. CONDOMS
They are quite effective in pregnancy prevention, even though its success rate isn’t totally dependable, and condoms are sometimes known to tear during intercourse. Condoms are built to prevent pregnancy by keeping semen from coming into contact with fertile eggs.
2. BIRTH CONTROL PILLS
Birth control pills can also be used to prevent pregnancy. They contain synthetic estrogen and progestin hormones that keep a woman’s eggs from leaving her ovaries, making it quite impossible for her to get pregnant.
3. DON’T MISS YOUR PILL
A birth control pill is mainly effective if you take it the right way. Taking it wrongly can cause havoc. Missing the prescribed pill cycle would increase your chances of getting pregnant.
4. TAKING PILL AT REGULAR TIMES
Also, taking pills at irregular intervals kills the effect of the pill and makes it highly possible to get pregnant. So it is advised that it should be taken at regular intervals.
5. FERTILITY AWARENESS METHOD
This is also another method of preventing pregnancy, but one that needs a certain level of awareness and calculation. This method has been estimated to have a 95-98% success rate if followed strictly and 75-88% effective if not followed strictly, and it’s quite complicated when a woman’s cycle does not follow a typical pattern. This method involves using the woman’s menstrual cycle to calculate when she isn’t fertile, and avoiding intercourse when she’s fertile.
6. Hormonal birth control methods like the birth control ring and the birth control implant can also be used to prevent pregnancy. One is inserted into the vagina and the other is inserted at the arm at certain intervals to aid the release of hormones to prevent pregnancy.
7. Also, surgical methods like female sterilization and Vasectomy are extreme methods of preventing pregnancy; they are hardly reversible, and advised when the couple doesn’t want to have any more children.
