Late Traditional Authority (T/A) Bvumbwe, real name Christopher of the Southern District of Thyolo will be laid to rest on Saturday August 22 at Makungwa.
Christopher Bvumbwe died on the wee hours of Wednesday at Adventist hospital in the commercial capital Blantyre at the age of 36.
TA Bvumbwe was installed in October 2001 by the then president Bakili Muluzi.
Bvumbwe came to light in 2013 when he challenged the immediate past President Dr. Joyce Banda at a funeral of Judge Joseph Manyungwa.
He trashed the PP officials for distributing party T-shirts at the funeral of Judge Manyungwa, saying the tendency was uncalled for and must not be tolerated.
“[Madam President] I want to say what has happened here. Your boys were distributing T-shirts. This is bad and degrading. It should never happen again. This should never happen again, if you want, hold a rally and distribute the T-shirts there,” he reportedly said.
The remarks did not go down well with the President and other PP bigwigs, forcing the chief to be in hiding for two weeks.
He is survived by a wife and two daughters Monica and Desire.
