Muhammed Mchemela 54-year old who hails from Msosa village in Salima district is in police custody for trying to export the Heroin(Diamorphinehcl) concealed in children toys through courier on Wednesday.
Deputy National police Public Relations Officer, Nicholas Gondwa told FaceofMalawi that the highly addictive drug was intercepted at one of the leading courier service providers (name withheld) in Lilongwe.
The drug was about to be exported to Freetown in Sierra Leone, and was properly packed in bottles which were hidden in children toys, explained Gondwa
The illicit drug trafficker, Muhammed Mchemela has since been charged with exportation of narcotic drug.
Mchemela disclosed during interrogations that he got the drug from his friend who stays in East Africa.
Meanwhile, the drug has been analyzed and tested by National Drug Quality Control laboratory with positive results.
