The immediate past President Dr. Joyce Banda, founder of the Opposition People’s Party (PP) is expected to return home next month from self-imposed exile in South Africa.
PP Spokesperson Ken Msonda and acting director of administration confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press but denied to give more details on the arrival date.
Banda left the country last year just after the May 20 tripartite election which saw the then Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious.
Her trip to United States of America raised a lot of speculations with others accusing her of running away from the ongoing investigations to the looting of public funds dubbed Cashgate which has seen culprits mentioning her as the main beneficially.
But the Party and her personal aide Andekuche Chanthunya blasted the claims on several times and accused the DPP playing a mafia game to ruin Banda’s political career.
Meanwhile Malawians are keenly waiting for the day Banda will return home from the self-imposed exile.
