Kenneth Collins Kunsanja has been sentenced to 107 months imprisonment for counts of fraud which is contrary to section 319(a) of the penal code of the Republic of Malawi.

Kunsanja committed both crimes of stealing by deceit in the month of October 2013 in Lilongwe and he also committed the crime of passing valueless cheques in November 2013 which is contrary to section 319 D(1) of the penal code of Malawi.

On the first count it was alleged that during the month of October,2013 in Lilongwe city Kunsanja stole 15,840 kilograms of maize valued at K2,534,400 million which belonged to Hassam Mamudu by deceit.

While as on the second count it was alleged that during the same month of October, 2013, in Lilongwe District also stole 1,384 bags of ground nuts valued at K 33,000,000.00 million belonging to Ulimi Farmers Club by deceit.

And the third count it is alleged that during the month of November,2013 in Lilongwe District Kunsanja issued a Malawi Savings Bank valueless cheques number 000037 which was worth K 19,140,000.00 million to Ulimi Farmers Club.

After healing the full trial Senior Resident Magistrate Patrick Chilunga Chirwa of Liliongwe senior resident magistrate court convicted and sentenced Kunsanja to 3 years imprisonment on the first count while as to 5 years imprisonment on the second count and to 6 months imprisonment on the third count.

Kunsanja will serve the count sentences one after another until he finishes all his 107 months jail term.
