Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that the Malawi government through the Ministry of Health has with immediate effect withdrawn all nurses who were allocated to work in district hospitals due to lack of funds for government to sustain them.
This has been disclosed in the letter from Ministry dated September 10, 2015 seen by FaceofMalawi titled “Withdraw of Deployment list and offer letters of employment to newly recruited Nurse Midwives Technicians and Nursing Officers” addressed to Directors and District Health Officers.
“I write to inform all Hospital Directors and Health Officers of the withdrawal of the letter of appointment which were issued to the newly qualified nursing officers, Nurse Midwife Technicians and Community Midwifery Assistant from Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) and the Public training institution of the Malawi College Health Institutions, Kamuzu College of Nursing and Mzuzu University,” reads in part the statement.
