Nana’s death story is similar to—, or a reminder of how fast-rising Nigerian music artist, Dagrin; died April 22, 2010 — exactly eight days after he was involved in a ghastly car crash on April 14 of same year in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos (Nigeria). The rapper was said to have been speeding and trying to overtake another car when he ran into a parked trailer in front of a Police Station.
Nana Gichuru had posted a message on her Facebook and Instagram accounts on September 11 (9/11), which many have said amounted to the prediction of her own death.
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘HOLY CRAP!!!! WHAT A RIIIDEE….!! (sic)” she posted on Facebook.
“To lace, red lips and oversized headphones and this amazing ride!”, she concluded.
On Instagram she wrote; “I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom in me in a magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.”
“The function of man is to live. Not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
