A Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier is reported dead while the other one is battling for his life at Zomba Central Hospital after a car they were traveling in was involved in an accident just after Malosa.
MDF Spokesperson Paul Chiphwanya confirmed of the accident in an interview with the Press and identified the deceased as Captain Hastings Kasuzumira Banda and the survivors as Private Thomas Makaika, Major Gausi.
He said officer Makaika is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while Gausi has been discharged from hospital
According to Chophwanya, the car in which the soldiers were travelling in, collided with another car which was heading to Mangochi at about 6pm on Friday.
Chiphwaya said the three were coming from a three-month training of officers at Malawi Armed Forces College (Mafco) in Salima where Kasuzumira Banda and Gausi were instructors.
Meanwhile Chiphwanya has express shock over the death of Kasuzumira Banda.
