Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that Opposition People’s Party (PP) has reinstated its Provincial Chair for the North Christopher Mzomera Ngwira and his deputy Cliffer Kondowe.

The two were fired from the Party last month on the grounds that they were bringing confusion in the Party as they hired thugs to disrupt the meeting organized by PP Secretary General Ibrahim Matola and its Administrative Secretary, Ken Msonda in the north.

The decision sparked divisions within the Party as two blocks were formed. Few days later former President Dr. Joyce Banda, the Party’s founder reversed the decision and asked the Party to give the two a chance to be heard.

According to information at hand, the disciplinary hearing took place in Lilongwe on September 11 and National Executive Members resolved to reinstate the two.

Ngwira confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Daily Times].

Ngwira made headlines when he announced that the country’s former Vice President Khumbo Hastings kachale has taken leadership of the Party from Banda a decision which was laughed off by the Party.
