Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that the immediate past President Dr. Joyce Banda is scheduled to arrive in the country from self-imposed exile this month end.

Banda left the country just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw the then opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious.

Her trip raised a lot of speculations in the country with other people accusing her of running away from the ongoing investigation to the looting of public funds dubbed Cashagte by the media but Banda trashed this claims.

Earlier this year, the Party through its spokesperson Ken Msonda told the Press that Banda will be in the country in May but she canceled it at the 11th hour without proper reasons.

But fresh information indicates that Banda will be in the country this month end.

According to inside sources that opted for anonymity, said Banda who is also founder of the opposition People’s Party (PP) will arrive in the country on October 28.

Speaking in an interview with the Press, Banda’s personal aide Andekuche Chanthunya denied to confirm of the dates but maintained that Banda will be in the country this month end or any day early next month.

When pressed as to why he is hiding the actual date, Chanthunya said he cannot disclose the date for security reasons.

Meanwhile Banda will today be in Accra, Ghana to attend a global gathering of women leaders and she will be the guest of honour.
