President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will on Wednesday October 14, 2015 preside over the official opening of Naminjiwa Community College in Phalombe district.

Minister of Labour, Youth and Manpower Development Henry Mussa confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press.

Mussa said the opening of the college will also mark the official launch of the programme in the southern region.

According to Mussa, Phalombe is among the 11 districts in the first phase of the programme where his ministry has established the community colleges as promised in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) manifesto.

He said the programme will soon be rolling out into its second phase where seventeen more colleges will be established, making a total of 28 community colleges, one for each district.

The minister also said the programme whose main objective is to help reduce unemployment among young people, will roll out in all constituencies in the country so that each constituency has its own community college.
