The High Court Lilongwe has ordered Blantyre Adventist Hospital in the commercial capital to release a comprehensive medical report on the health condition of former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara.

Judge Michael Mtambo made the order today in Lilongwe after Kasambara failed to appear before the court in the shooting case of former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo where he is answering case of conspiracy to commit murder.

Kasambara was admitted at the hospital just days after his bail revocation.

When court resumed sitting today, lawyer representing Kasambara family members, Manuel Theu served Mtambo and State Prosecutor Mary Kachale a medical reports from Kasambara family doctor Luano Kalongolera indicating that former justice’s health need serious observation for the next 21 days and that he can only be fit for trial after the said days.

But in another letter of reference signed by heart specialist from Holland, Doctor David Saunders of Blantyre Adventist hospital says Kasambara has to be observed for three days before he can be able to stand trial.

The conflicting reports, forced Kachale to ask the Court to demand for a comprehensive medical report from the hospital on Kasambara’s health condition.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to Wednesday where the hospital is expected to handover the report.
