Late Allisa Makawa, Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) Board Chairperson will be laid to rest on Wednesday at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre.
Makawa died on the early hours of Monday at Blantyre Adventist Hospital after a short illness.
MACRA board has expressed shock in a statement made available to FaceofMalawi confirming the sad news.
Macra will sorely miss her humility, professional determination, commitment, generosity and enormous contribution to the development of the communications sector in Malawi in her stay as board chairperson,” reads the statement in part.
According to the statement, Makawa’s remains will be collected from College of Medicine (CoM) Mortuary at noon on Tuesday, and will be taken to her residence in Namiwawa, Blantyre.
Makawa owned Kambiri Lodge in Salima and Shire Highlands Hotel in Limbe, under the Alexander Hotels brand.
President Peter Mutharika appointed Makawa into the Macra board on November 10 2014.
Makawa is survived by is survived by a son, John and daughter, Eda.
She hailed from Matapira Village, Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe.
