Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has said the pass rate of this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) Examinations results has increased by 1% compared to last year’s results despite many challenges that the board faced.
MANEB Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday made available to FaceofMalawi.
Speaking in an interview with the press, Ministry Of Education, Science and Technology Spokesperson Manfred Ndovies said that there is a lot of work to do on the ground despite the change in pass rate.
“It is good news because we have moved, but it is not that satisfactory. We still have a lot of homework to do to achieve desired results. That includes having more qualified teachers and ensuring that we have adequate learning materials so that students do not scramble for books.” said Manfred Ndovie.
In a related development, MANEB has disqualified 38 candidates for contravening MANEB regulations.
“The letter ‘D’ appears against the names of such candidates on the pass/fail list.
“454 candidates have their results withheld pending investigations,” reads the statement in part.
Meanwhile MANEB has urged that their results will be available at the centers where they registered.
“Candidates wishing to query their results should do so in writing through the Head of the Examination Centre where they registered,” adds the statement.
