Blantyre City Council (BCC) has reopened the Chipembere Highway from Yiannaks roundabout to Standard Bank in Limbe following the completion of the rehabilitation of the road under phase III project.
The council closed the road on May 28, 2015 to pave way for smooth rehabilitation works after noting the congestion and parking of vehicles along the segment of the road.
In a statement released today signed by the Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Alfred W.D. Chanza made available to FaceofMalawi says traffic flow will revert to normal on Livingstone Avenue and Churchill roads in Limbe.
“For instance, traffic from Illovo Roundabout to Blantyre direction shall only use the Livingstone Avenue where as those going towards Illovo Roundabout shall use Churchill road as it used to be.
“In short, Churchill and Livingstone roads are reverting to one way traffic arrangement,” reads in part the statement.
The Council has since advised all road users to observe road signs to avoid accidents.
BCC has also urged the general public to avoid vandalism of road facilities and report to Blantyre City Council or any nearest Police Station if anyone is found vandalizing the road facilities.
