Husband and wife have been burned to death by an angry mob in the Northern district of Karonga for allegedly being suspected of practicing witchcraft.
The development comes barely days after the death of five people in a petrol fire that gutted down a house in the district.
Karonga Police Spokesperson Enock Rivasoni confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press and identified the deceased as Taipi Vinkhumbo, 76 and Marinara Vinkhumbo 65.
According to Rivasoni, the two were suspected of practicing witchcraft following the mysterious death of the three people who were attacked by crocodiles in the past weeks.
“They were assaulted and then the mob took them to their home kitchen where they burned the victims inside. We only found ashes and no body,” said Rivasoni.
The deceased come from Mtendere village Traditional Authority Kyungu.
Meanwhile no one has been arrested in connection to the incident.
