Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that heavy rains accompanied by heavy storm have killed a man in Kasungu while over 20 families have been rendered homeless.

The incident happened on Thursday October 29, 2015.

Kasungu National Park Investigation Officer Edson Chitali confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Sydney Mkungula.

According to Chitali, the deceased who was working as a driver died after the roof of a house he was staying in collapsed on him due to the heavy storm.

In a related development, heavy rains in Mzimba has rendered over 50 families homeless and injuring 20 people in the process.

Apart from that, the hailstorm has also blown off roofs of two government schools and a police station.

Mbelwa District Council Disaster Manager Thom Munthali has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Munthali said the affected families need immediate help.

Meanwhile Blantyre and some parts of the capital Lilongwe received rains on Friday.
