
POISONED SWEET BEER CLAIMS THREE LIVES IN MZIMBA

Three people are reported dead while 38 others are admitted at Mzimba District Hospital after drinking sweet beer (Thobwa) suspected to have been poisoned.
According to a report by Zodiak online, the incident happened on Tuesday at Mangaliso Nkwinika Village in the area of Inkosi Chindi.
Councillor for Mzalangwe Ward Dan Nkosi who ferried the victims to hospital on Wednesday night said they drunk the sweet beer on Tuesday and immediately started vomiting and purging continuously.
Mzimba district hospital senior clinical superintendent Dryton Makanjira confirmed of the development in an interview, saying the survivors admitted to the hospital are responding well to the treatment.
Makanjira identified the deceased as a girl aged seven, boy aged seven and 70-year-old man Mtheto Nkwinika.
The drink was reportedly supplied to the people from their relations in the nearby Ngazi village.
Meanwhile health expert at the hospital are yet to establish what was wrong with the said sweet beer.
