Classes at Limbe Community Day Secondary School in the commercial capital Blantyre ended prematurely on Monday following heavy rains accompanied strong winds that blew off the roof of the school and some buildings in the Township.
Limbe Police spokesperson Pedzisai Zembeneko and the head teacher confirmed of the development in separate interview with FaceofMalawi, saying no one has been injured by the fracas.
According to the head teacher, the most effected building is the headteacher’s office, staffroom and one classroom.
As this was not enough, a falling tree damaged two vehicles and blew of some roof in Bangwe where a Catholic Church building had its roof blown off along with a dozen of houses.
The strong winds also blew off the roof of Makhetha Health Centre, Limbe Health Centre forcing authorities to transfer the drugs to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).
The same incident has been reported in Mzimba District and Lilongwe especially in Mitundu.
