Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is this afternoon expected to condemn recist remarks uttered by one of his MPs on Lilongwe Central MP David Bisnowaty.

Bisnowaty is alleged to have insulted former head of state Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda when he was refuting the claims made by Peter Dimba that during MCP era there was no food shortage in the country.

The development sparked commotion in Parliament as MCP MPs reacted harshly on Bisnowaty, calling him a foreigner who has nothing to offer to Malawians.
The conduct of MCP MPs in Parliament attracted criticisms from all corners with human right activists in the country asking the Party to apologize on the matter.

Reacting to the claims, MCP Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila said Bisnowaty deserve the racist slurs and disparagement in parliament.

“Honourable Bisnowaty attacked the father and founder of the nation, how do you expect the MCP to react? When someone insults your parents, you react. We have been in parliament for a long time we have never reacted like that,” said Kabwila.

Kabwila said a Malawian cannot go to Palestine and tell Palestinians what to do.
