The Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament has demanded Justice in the case where United Democratic Front (UDF) lawmaker for Machinga Constituency Shaibu Kaliati is being accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Shaibu was arrested on Friday for sleeping with the said girl at Anness Lodge in the capital Lilongwe.
Speaking in an interview with press, Legal Affairs Committee Deputy Chairman Maxwell Thyolera confirmed of the arrest and he demanded Justice on the matter.
Thyolera it is unfortunate that Kaliati is entangled in such a case considering the fact that he was man behind in passing the child protection law.
On his part, UDF Chief Whip in Parliament Liliani Patel expressed shock on the matter, saying the part will respect the court decision on the matter.
Patel said the Party is currently working on finding a lawyer to represent Kaliati on the matter.
Kailiati is said to have disappeared from parliament during tea break in on Friday.
