Minibus drivers and conductors were involved in running battles with the Police in Limbe Township this morning over the conduct of traffic officers.
The angry drivers and conductors went on the street demanding the immediate releases of over 200 minibuses impounded on Wednesday.
The protestors who were singing anti-Police songs accused the officers of impounding their vehicles without pegging any charge. The irate drivers blocked the way to Kanjeza Police Station by decollating the road with burning tyres.
Police retaliated by firing tear gas at the angry drivers and conductor leading to a total chaos as tears gas affected even innocent people including vendors who were plying their businesses peacefully.
It took the Police two hours to contain the irate drivers and conductors.
Meanwhile peace has returned in Limbe Township.
