The fired United Democratic Front (UDF) 1st Vice President Iqbal ‘Nthandizi’ Omar has come out of his cocoon to trash the decision made by Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to expel him, saying he still holding the position.
Omar said this on Tuesday during a Straight Talk programme aired on Capital Radio hosted and produced by Rhodes Msonkho.
In the interview, Omar challenged the decision taken by NEC, saying it’s only the Party’s convention that can decide his fate.
“No one can fire me from the Party. I am always UDF and I will die UDF. I love UDF more than my business,” said Omar.
When asked as to whether he was really forming parallel structures as alleged by some Party officials, Omar vehemently denied the claims, saying he has never at one point done that.
“I completely deny forming parallel structures,” he said.
The Party fired Omar from the Party along with two other officials in the party, deputy director of women, Zaituna Yusuf and deputy central region governor, Dinocius Magombo.
The Party accused the three of forming parallel structures and UDF spokesperson Ken Ndanga confirmed of the development, saying the decision was made on Friday last.
Ndanga said NEC summoned Omar for disciplinary hearing on several times but he was non-committal hence the firing.
