A-36-year old man is in Police custody in Lilongwe for allegedly stabbing to death a security guard in a foiled robbery attempt at a shop in Kawale 1.

Lilongwe Police Station Publicist, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Bikitoni Livimbo nicknamed Jacuda.

Dandaula said the deceased Security guard identified as Milias Kazembe mate her fate on Saturday while on duty.

According Dandaula, the suspect wanted to break into the shop who upon realizing that the guard had seen him and that he knew his identity, stabbed him on the stomach.

He said the guard died while receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital where he was admitted.

Meanwhile, police said the suspect who hails from Mpingu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malili in Lilongwe is expected to appear before court to answer charges of murder contrary to section 209 of the penal code.

The deceased hails from Songaye Village, Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu district.
