Dust is refusing to settle on the newly appointed Clerk of Parliament (CoP) Fiona Kalemba as new revelations indicates that Kalemba came third with 79 percent in the interview conducted by Parliamentary Service Commission chaired by Speaker Richard Msowoya.

Kalemba’s swearing in ceremony failed to take place two weeks ago following an injunction granted by Mzuzu High to four opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) led by Rumphi East MP Kamlepo Kalua.

The MPs,through their lawyer Wesley Mwafulirwa of Tenson associates, argued that the appointment was unlawful because Kalemba had failed the interviews.

Last Friday, Mzuzu High Court Judge Dingiswayo Madise threw away government application to have the injunction vacated.

Judge Madise then set 15 December as the next day the case will be heard and said he will pass his judgment on 18th December.

But leaked information sourced by faceofMalawi supporting the argument of the four MPs namely Kamlepo Kalua, Enock Chihana, Peter Chakwantha and Harry Mkandawire indicates that Kalemba came third with 79 percent.

The leaked documents also indicate that Charles Mkandawire came first with 90 percent followed by Grace Malera who got 88 percent.

Comment on the appointment earlier, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika defended Kalemba saying she deceived the post.

Meanwhile Kalemba’s appointment has received criticisms from all corners with others accusing Mutharika of practicing regionalism.
