As the country continue to experience persistent power outages, Nkhoma Mission Hospital has accused Electricity Supply Corporation (ESCOM) of being behind the death of four patients who were on oxygen due to power blackout.
The accusation comes barely days after it was also reported that a mother died while on operation at a certain hospital in Mangochi due to the same fault.
In a letter addressed to ESCOM seen by FaceofMalawi has asked the state owned company to take full responsibility of the recent deaths.
The letter says the four patients died due to low oxygen after the electricity went off.
Reacting to the claims, ESCOM central region manager Ngwire Mwenifumnbo has denied the claims, saying Escom duly gave notices on load shedding therefore the hospital should have a generator on standby.
Meanwhile some parts of Blantyre have spent close to two days without power now.
