One of the suspects in the MK100 million First Merchant Bank (FMB) robbery which happened in December last year has been shot dead by the Police.
The armed thugs shot dead a Police officer identified as Sergeant Patrick Mvula and left another officer seriously injured.
The suspect identified as Joseph ‘Stone’ Black was shot on Monday in Limbe during a sweeping exercise conducted by the Police and died while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).
‘Stone’ Black is also believed to be among the thugs that stole money amounting to MK6 million belonging to OG Plastic where a Police Officer was also shot dead.
National Police Spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press.
Gondwa said the suspect was uncorporative during the arrest, saying the shooting was as a result of him jumping from the Police vehicle.
