Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that Police in the capital Lilongwe have arrested a fellow officer for allegedly having a hand in the gruesome murder of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of Corporate Services Issa Njauju.
According to inside sources, the suspect was working as Criminal Investigator in the Malawi Police Service department and is currently being remanded at Maula Prison.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Kingsly Dandaula could not deny or confirm when approached for comment.
Njauju’s body was found abandoned in Lilongwe around July 5 close to Presidential Villa riddled with gun bullets while his official vehicle was set on fire and abandoned within the city.
Civil Society Organization(CSOs), donors and some concerned citizens in the country have heavy criticized President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s administration for not showing any commitment to track down the culprits.
Reacting to the claims, Muttharika assured Malawians that his government is doing whatever it can to make sure that the culprits are brought to book.
Meanwhile the arrest has increased the number of suspects to two.
