Veterani musician Lucius Banda’s decision to end the show prematurely at Zithele Pano in Mangochi on Christmas Day over gay men who were kissing each over in front of patrons continue to attract attention country wide, the latest to comment being the catholic church.
Writing on his official Facebook page after the abrupt ending of the show, Banda said the act demonstrated by the two men was uncalled for and that he could not continue performing, saying he is not a gay.
Banda also apologized to his fans for the cancellation, saying he was irritated by the move.
Speaking on Sunday during the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus at Saint Augustine Cathedral, Bishop Montfort Sitima of Mangochi Diocese commended Banda for vehemently denouncing same sex marriages in the country.
Sitima wondered why the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regime under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is failing to come forward and declare the country’s position on the matter, saying gay marriages is evil.
He said it is sad that many Malawians are running away from the core values of marriages in the country.
