SUSPECT IN THE SHOOTING OF DPP REGIONAL TREASURE IN MZUZU ARRESTED

A 40-year-old man is in police custody in Mzuzu for allegedly being in connection with the shooting of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Regional Treasury for the North Happy Kumwenda.
Kumwenda who is also Malawi Housing Corporation Board member was shot on the back on December 28, 2015 at his house at Mzilawayingwe Township in Mzuzu.
Northern Region Police spokesperson Maurice Chapola confirmed of the development in an interview with FaceofMalawi and identified the suspect as Thokozile Kamwambi from Traditional Authority (T/A) Kyungu in Karonga.
Chapola denied explaining the motive behind the shooting, saying the police are still investigating the matter.
Kumwenda was admitted at at St. John Hospital in Mzuzu.
