Veteran politician Humphrey Mvula has come out of his cocoon and commented on his son arrest in connection to the recent terror that has been happening in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Mvula’s son Dumisani together with three other suspects believed to be hardcore criminals were arrested on Saturday.

The Police also recovered a total of 239 live ammunition, a pistol and a pump gun.

Speaking in an interview with one of the privately owned radio in the country, Mvula expressed shock over the development, saying he did not expect his son to be among hardcore criminals.

Mvula said Dumisani is still his son and he will do whatever he come to support him.

“I never I imagined he could be found in the predicament of this nature. He is a very nice child. He is a good boy, the truth shall be told,” said Mvula.

The suspects are also alleged to have committed three murder cases in the process of stealing seven vehicles.

Some of the vehicles that the group is suspected to have stolen include a Mazda Bongo, whose owner was murdered, an MTL Toyota Hilux whose driver was killed, and a government Toyota Prado belonging to a Cabinet minister.

Meanwhile police have arrested a fellow officer for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to the alleged hardcore criminals.
