Minister of Gender Patricia Kaliati has expressed shock over the recent gruesome murder of three people of the same family in Zingwangwa Township in the commercial capital Blantyre.
On Monday Zingwangwa residents had a rude awakening after learning that a businessman identified as Charles Chipanda, 52 has shot his wife and stepson before shooting himself to death.
According to reports, Chipanda shot is his wife after finding out that she was having unfair with another man.
Speaking in an interview with the press in Lilongwe, Kaliati said government is saddened with the deaths.
Kailaiti said government will not condone such behaviours to continue happening in the country.
“As a Ministry we will not sit and condone such type of behavior in this country”.
“We have a child who has nothing to do with marriage disputes between the father and mother. It’s unfortunate some men would want to settle misunderstandings this way.” said Kaliati.
She added: “As government under the leadership of His Excellency Professor Peter Mutharika; we’ve put strict measures to protect the lives of children in this country”
Kaliati has since urged women to break the silence and report any form of abuse they experience.
