Police at Chileka International Airport (KIA) in Blantyre have arrested a Chinese national for attempting to export Ivory.
KIA Police spokesperson confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the state controlled radio [MBC 1]
The suspect identified as Mr. Zhou from Guangzhou in China, packed the ivory weighing 6 kilograms in wooden human carvings and painted them black to beat Airport Security.
Mr Zhou who was staying in Maone Park in Limbe will be charged with illegal exportation of protected specimen which is contrary to Section 98 (b) of the National Parks and Wildlife Amendment Act.
