As the debate on whether Malawi should bow down to the donors and legalise homosexuality continues, the founder of the Soul Winners Church Rev. Maurice Katema has warned against legalising it saying Malawi will heavily pay for it as it is not Godly.
Rev. Katema in an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA), said the prolonged dry spell that the country is experiencing is as a result of some quarters of life engaging themselves in the ungodly acts, and the nation needs to wake up and repent.
Said Rev. Maurice; “As Malawians we need to take care of the homosexuality issue. This is an abomination in the presence of the Lord. If we open the book of Genesis it also happened to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah whereby they came to rape angels, and because of this there was crisis in the land and a lot of people died.
“The same Bible says if my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray, I Jehovah will forgive their sins, and as a nation we need to pray for God’s forgiveness.”
According to the Pastor, Malawi should expect more troubles such as diseases, continued dry spells because of the homosexuality issue.
Asked on whether Malawi could make it without the donor support, Katema said it was only through God that Malawi could make it and no destruction would happen to the country.
“These things are coming because of the works of the devil. As a nation through God, even if the donors withdraw their aid to Malawi, I tell you we will make it. We will not suffer unlike if we bow down to the request of the donors in exchange of their money,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rev. Katema has since cautioned other religious leaders who are for homosexuality saying ‘they are provoking the anger of God.’
Soul Winners Church was founded in 2003 and has six branches countrywide.
