Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has called for an emergency meeting to iron out the in-fighting that has erupted within the Party between its spokesperson Jessie Kabwila and some members of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
Kabwila caught the rough of some NEC members when he accused some top officials who approved the firing of seven district chairpersons, accusing them of being undemocratic.
The fired district chairmen were being accused of advocating an early convention and the immediate resignation Dr. Lazarus Chakwera accusing him of being nepotistic.
Sources within MCP said a meeting has been slated for Tuesday where all concerned parties including herself, will have a platform to resolve their grievances.
Speaking in an interview with one of the privately owned radio, MCP Public Relations Officer Alekeni Menyani could not confirm of the meeting.
Menyani accused some Party officials bloating the issue, saying media is not the better place to report squabbles rocking the party.
