Two People are in police custody for allegedly being among the angry mob that set ablaze South Lunzu Magistrate Court in the commercial capital Blantyre.

According to information at hand, the angry mob mistakenly thought that some of the suspects were answering murder charges in relation to an incident that happened in Machinjiri Town Ship few weeks ago.

Blantyre Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Divala confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspects as Henry Masina and Labson Magombo.

It is said that that Ndirande and Chileka police officers brought before the court suspects for hearing were murder suspects

“Even after explaining to them that no murder suspect was brought before the court, they regrouped after court session and started damaging window glasses, injuring police officers and damaging two police vehicles,” reads in part the report published by one of the local daily papers.

Meanwhile the two will appear in court soon.
