Controversial opposition People’s Party (PP) provincial chair for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has denied media reports that he has joined the newly formed Party called United Party (UP), saying the reports are untrue aiming to tarnish his emerge.
On Thursday Nyasa Times and Malawi voice carried a story indicating that Mzomera Ngwira is set to join the Party led by former Member of Parliament for Mzimba South constituency currently based in Canada Paul Sydney Shawa.
The paper quoted Shawa confirming Mzomera’s move, saying he will add polish to the Party.
But speaking in ‘Thumba la tambe’ programme aired for the first time on Times radio on Friday evening hosted by Brian Banda, Ngwira trashed the story and accused the reporters of the said publications of being unprofessional.
Mzomera Ngwira said he has never at any point talked with Mr. Shawa about the move to join his political Party and he has no such plans to leave People’s Party.
When pressed on his recent firing from the party, Ngwira said the newly appointed Interim leader for the Party Uladi Mussa has no powers to fire him.
Mzomera Ngwira labeled Mussa as a political failure and he vowed to continue fighting him until his wish of seeing genuine PP members lead the Party are achieved, saying Mussa is an intruder.
PP fired Mzomera Ngwira from the party for allegedly organizing thugs to disrupt the meeting organized by Mussa in Mzuzu.
