The High Court in Lilongwe has stopped former Justice Minister Raphael Kasambara and former Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier Macdonald Kumwembe from talking publicly of their case including the media.

Judge Michael Mtambo issued the condition when he was restoring the bail for the two in the attempted murder of former budget director Paul Mphwiyo in September 13, 2013.

Delivering his ruling after parading the last witness, Mtambo said the two have the liberty to walk out of the cell since all the witnesses have been paraded.

The Judge however issued a gag order preventing them from speaking publicly about the case.

Mtambo revoked Kasambara’s bail on September 23, 2015 over what he claimed was an infringement on his private space by allegedly accessing his private information.

Kasambara, Kumwembe and businessperson Pika Manondo are defending themselves in case of the near fatal shooting of former budget director Paul Mphwiyo at the gate of his Area 43 residence in Lilongwe.
