A 24-year old man is in police custody in Kasungu for allegedly defiling a 13 year old girl who is an imbecile.
Police in Kasungu have confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Adam Kaisi from Chisazima village, Senior Traditional Authority Kaomba in the district.
According to the police, the victim met her fate as she was going to see her grandmother who lives within their village.
“On her way, she met the Kaisi who threatened the victim that he would deal with her because she had been denying him love for a long period of time.
“The victim started running away and the suspect went after her until he caught her. He tied her onto a tree with a rope before defiling her,” reads the statement.
The suspect will soon appear before court to answer the charge of defilement which is contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code when investigations are completed.
