The court in Lilongwe have slapped a an 18-month suspended sentence to both Malawi Post Corporation Employee and his accomplice for allegedly being found in possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) certificate.
Earlier this month, Police in the capital Lilongwe arrested the employee identified as Gibson Mgadamika and Samson Mweso who is suspected to have produced the said certificate.
The two were charged with a case of altering a false document contrary to Section 360 as read with Section 356 of the Penal Code.
According to Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga, the two appeared in court on February 17, 2016 and they were convicted on their own plea of guilty.
Maganga said the court then slapped each an 18-month suspended sentence and a fine of K30,000 each.
“They both failed to pay the fine and were taken back into police custody,” said Maganga.
Meanwhile he court is yet to deliver its ruling on the two for failing to pay the fine.
