An unknown man aged between 27 and 30 years was murdered by angry mob last Monday at Kabudula in the area of chief Kabudula in Lilongwe.

Lilongwe Police Spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula told Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Friday that the deceased hired a motorcycle taxi (kabaza) from a kabaza operator identified as Brighton Kamanga, 30 years from Kayendekeza village T/A Kabudula Lilongwe to take him to Ukwe village with an intention of stealing the motor bike.

The two agreed and started off for Ukwe, unfortunately upon reaching the destination, the deceased stubbed the kabaza operator on his back with a knife, lucky enough he managed to jump from the kabaza and screamed out for help as he was running away.

The deceased tried to run away but was finally caught by the villagers from Kayendekeza and Taiza villages and was beaten to death.

Some people reported the matter to Lilongwe Police whereby the body of the deceased was taken to Mbavi Healthy Centre.

Postmortem from the hospital established that the deceased had died of head injury as a result of loss of a lot of blood.

Police are still carrying out investigation to find out people who were involved in the mob justice.mana
