The High Court in Blantyre have finally released on bail two of the four hardcore criminals Chipiliro Gombwa and Dumisani Mvula arrested on January 3, 2016.
The two were released on bail on Monday by Justice Redson Kapindu after pleading not guilty to murder, robbery with violence and carjacking charges.
Kapindu ordered Mvula to pay a bail bond of MK100, 000, two sureties, to surrender all his traveling documents to Blantyre Police while his co-accused has been asked to pay a bail bond of MK300, 000, two sureties, surrender his traveling documents to police and tell the police the exact place where he is staying.
The Court has also ordered the two to seek permission from Police when travelling out of Blantyre.
Dumisani Mvula, son to renowned political and social commentator Humphrey Mvula, Dickson Mangombe, Andy Machinjiri and Chipiliro Gombwa were arrested on 3rd January this year by southern region police through its Anti-Motor Theft branch.
During the arrest, Police recovered a pistol and a gun pump with 260 live ammunitions.
Days later, the Police arrested a fellow officer from Kanjeza Police on the grounds that he was supplying them will ammunitions.
Earlier, the Police told the press that Mvula and Gombwa confessed to have stolen Mazda Bongo and killed the owner in the process. They also confessed to have stolen Toyota Hirux (double cabin) that belonged to Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) and killing the driver, Geoffrey Msichi- who was an ex-policeman.
