Airtel Africa Executive Chairman Christian De Faria has appointed Charles Kamoto as Airtel Malawi Managing Director effective March 1, 2016.

This has been disclosed in a Press statement posted on Airtel Malawi official website seen by FaceofMalawi reporter.

Kamoto’s appointment comes barely two months after being appointed as Acting Managing Director for the company.

“Charles has been able to build superior executive capabilities in order to deliver a competitive customer value proposition in Malawi,” said Faria.
Added Faria: “It’s a moment of pride for Airtel and Malawi as a country.”

Kamoto moved from rival Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) where he worked for 15 years to Airtel as chief commercial manager.

He is the second Malawian to be at the helm of Airtel in Malawi, the first was Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, who is now State vice president.
