As debate continues over the Nsanje tragedy where seven people were burnt to death by irate villagers for being found with human bones on Wednesday, Villagers have contradicted the Police over the killings.

The villagers who confided to the press said the suspects were found in possession of human private parts contrary to earlier reports by police, saying the suspects were found in possession of human bones wrapped in plastic bags.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the villagers confirmed with this publication that he saw the private parts with his own naked eyes.

He said the villagers will continue administering mob justice to anyone found with private parts or human bones in the district.

On his part, Nsanje Police Officer-In-Charge (OC) Kirby Kaunga condemned the mob justice, saying this is inhuman and must not be tolerated.
Kaunga said investigations are underway to identify the suspects.

Meanwhile Police have urged the general public to desist from taking the law in their own hands as this ends up masking pertinent information that would further lead to the arrest of main suspects.
