Mzimba West Member of Parliament Harry Mkandawire on Monday turn the August House into a laughing house when he repeated ‘Ine Ndilibe Problem’ statement made by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika during the official opening of the upgraded Chipembere High Way in the commercial capital Blantyre just to mock the President.
It all started when members in the August house were scrutinizing the budgetary allocation to the Office of the President and Cabinet which has been increased from K6, 595,724,601 to K9, 720,345,944 and the State residence allocation has also been increased to by K150 million.
Making his contribution on the allocation, Mkandawire said increases clearly shows how inconsiderate the DPP regime is to poor Malawians who are suffering on the ground hence the President said ‘Ine Ndilibe Problem’.
Mkandawire’s remarks turn the whole house including the government benches into a laughter for closer to five minutes with opposition MPs teasing the President on the ground.
But First Deputy Speaker Esther Mcheka Chilenje while stilling laughing ruled ‘Ine Ndilibe Problem’ remarks unparliamentary and ordered it not to be part of parliamentary records.
Mkandawire further lambasted Mutharika for increasing budgetary allocation to his office, saying State House is where looting of public funds originated from.
“When everyone expects that the office of the president must be one of the least offices demanding an increase considering the sufferings Malawians are subjected to due to cashgate (looting of public finances at Capital Hill) ,it is uncalled for, it dumbfounded I can go on and on to call it names, but it’s shame for the government to be here and tell us to increase the budget with over 3.1 billion kwacha to one person when Malawians are suffering, I for one I will not be part of this ,”Mkandawire said.
Meanwhile the budgetary allocation to State House has been deferred for the Minister of Finance to provide enough information as to why the budgetary allocation has been increased.
