Dae Yang Luke University student is in Police custody for allegedly insulting President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika while on public transport.
Police in the capital Lilongwe have confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as a 19 year old Patrick Simupanda.
According to reports, the student and his friend started insulting the President during the debate that erupted in minibus from Lilongwe Old Town.
During this time, there was certain woman in the same minibus putting on full Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regalia who reported the two Police.
The student and his friend said it is shameful to see someone putting on DPP regalia, saying the Party has brought enormous challenges including the hunger crisis in the country.
They further said the DPP government of stocking ADMARC deports with enough maize the party has place the said Maize on the party’s regalia.
Meanwhile the two are in police custody and they will appear in court today.
