Dowa First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced a 21year old man identified as Rodney Kamanga to 18months Imprisonment with hard labour for sodomising a 10 year old boy (name withheld) which is contrary to Section 153 of the Penal Code.
Facts are that during the month of January,2016 Rodney Kamanga sodomised the victim in his parents’ house at Dowa Boma where the victim’s parents also live. After committing the act,Kamanga gave the victim boiled Irish potatoes and K100 not to reveal to anyone, but the victim told his parents who reported the matter to Dowa Police Station.
Rodney Kamanga was recently arrested and appeared before court to answer the charge of Sodomy and he was found guilty as charged.
After the judgement, the State through Sub Inspector Benson Chimbelenga requested the court to slap Kamanga with a stiff sentence as his behaviour was not only morally rotten but also it had set a bad precedent to the community.
Dowa First Grade Magistrate, His Worship Imulani Phiri agreed with the state saying the man showed a bad moral behaviour by committing the crime.He further added that Kamanga’s act was not only against the law but also that it is morally unacceptable. He therefore sentenced Kamanga to 18 months jail term.
Rodney Kamanga comes from Mtambo Village, Traditional Authority Simphasi in Mchinji district.
